How Skybase uses context to build the company brain
Skybase builds the company brain by giving its agent the right context at every step: what a source says, what your pages already say, and who to trust.

Context is what an agent knows at the moment it makes a decision. In Skybase, every update is built from three kinds of context: the new source material, the pages that already exist, and the authority behind each. Getting that context right is what keeps a company brain accurate as it grows.
Why context decides whether a company brain is accurate
A Slack message that says "we're pushing the deadline to Friday" is useless on its own. It doesn't say which project, which deadline, or whether it replaces something already written down. An agent that sees only the message will either create a duplicate page or guess where the fact belongs.
An agent that also sees the existing pages can place the fact correctly, or notice that it contradicts something. That's the same failure behind How to Stop Losing Client Context After Every Call. The information was there. What was missing was the context around it.
What the agent sees when new information arrives
When Skybase reads a source, it doesn't process it alone. The agent gets the raw material along with where it came from and when, plus the existing pages related to it. From that, it makes one of three decisions:
- New. The fact is not covered anywhere, so it becomes its own page.
- Update. The fact refines an existing page, so the agent drafts a change to it.
- Conflict. The fact disagrees with what's already there, so it gets flagged.
The agent also removes duplicates along the way. A fact stated in three channels doesn't turn into three pages. Every draft then goes to the review queue, so a person confirms it before it goes live.
Who said it matters
Not every source carries the same weight. Trust in Skybase is set at the page level and depends on the source and the topic. A decision recorded in a ticket and a guess in a chat reply are different kinds of evidence, and the agent treats them differently when they disagree. That's why a casual comment doesn't quietly overwrite an approved answer.
This is also what makes freshness visible. Every page carries its source and a last-confirmed date, so "is this still true" has a real answer.
Conflicts keep their context
When two sources disagree, Skybase doesn't pick one and delete the other. The conflict goes to the review queue, and the losing evidence stays linked to the page as contradicted-by. When a page is replaced, a superseded-by pointer connects the old page to the new one.
The result is that you can look at any answer and see what it was built from, what disagreed with it, and what it replaced. Context isn't thrown away once a decision is made.
Context on the way out
Maintaining context is half the job. Using it is the other half. When someone asks a question, the agent doesn't search raw messages. It loads the relevant, already-reviewed pages directly into context and answers from them, with the source shown.
Because the hard reading happened earlier, answers are fast and grounded. This is the design bet behind Why We Didn't Build Another Glean: build the knowledge first, then answer from it, instead of searching a pile at question time.
Context for your other agents
The same pages are available to the agents your team already uses. Cursor, Claude Code, and other MCP-compatible tools can read the same sourced, current knowledge, so a coding agent can pull the real reasoning behind a decision instead of guessing from the code. What Is MCP and Why Your Company Brain Should Support It explains the protocol, and How AI Agents Can Read and Write to Your Knowledge Base covers how writes stay safe.
What this means in practice
For a small team, good context handling means three things. New information lands in the right place without someone filing it. Contradictions surface before they cause a wrong answer. Every claim can be traced back to where it came from.
